Timeline: 2 months
Platform: Migrated from WordPress (Elementor) to Wagtail CMS

When The Slow Cyclist approached us, their site was running on a dated WordPress build, bogged down by Elementor’s limitations. Performance was sluggish, accessibility was subpar, and the experience didn’t reflect the richness or spirit of their slow travel ethos. Our mission was clear: rebuild the site from the ground up with a sharper, faster, more inclusive user experience.

We led the full scope of the project — from bespoke design additions, front-end development and overall project management. In just two months, we delivered a complete migration to Wagtail CMS, launching on time and on budget.

Key Improvements

  • Performance Boost: Lighthouse performance scores leapt from the high 40s to the mid 80s post-launch — a dramatic improvement that now gives users a noticeably faster, smoother experience.
  • Accessibility First: The old site excluded keyboard and screen reader users. We made meeting WCAG 2.2 accessibility a non-negotiable priority, ensuring the new platform is intuitive and navigable for all users.
  • Scalability Built In: We’ve laid the groundwork for a flexible, future-friendly site architecture. Many of the upcoming features on our roadmap simply wouldn’t have been possible on the previous platform.
  • Immediate Impact: Just two weeks post-launch, The Slow Cyclist is already seeing increased traffic and a measurable uptick in bookings.

This project is a perfect example of what can happen when thoughtful UX, modern technology, and a collaborative client relationship come together. The new site doesn’t just look and feel better — it performs better, for everyone.
